Cannabis and Women’s Health

Cannabis use has been shown to have a positive effect on aspects of female sexual function, including libido and orgasm. It can also help manage menopause symptoms, mood disorders, chronic pain, and other health problems that affect women or individuals with a uterus. In recognition of Women’s Health Month, DFCR and Marijuana Matters are bringing together a stellar group of cannabis and women’s health experts to lead a discussion on how cannabinoid therapy can be a safe and effective treatment for women’s health issues. This panel is designed for cannabis patients, providers, and anyone interested in learning more about the components of cannabis and why it’s being hailed as a wellness revolution, as well as discussing its potential risks.

Speakers include:

  • Leslie Mendoza Temple, MD, ABOIM - Medical Director of the NorthShore Integrative Medicine Program, a DFCR Expert, and a board-certified Family and Integrative Medicine Physician. Dr. Temple will be speaking on Managing Perimenopausal and PMS Symptoms with Cannabinoids.

  • Felecia L. Dawson, MD, ABOG, ABOIM - practiced holistic gynecology, integrative and functional medicine for over 30 years and was recognized as one of the leading female obstetrician-gynecologists in the nation. Dr. Dawson will be speaking on CBD in Pregnancy.

  • Genester Wilson-King, MD, FACOG is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist and DFCR board member.  Dr. Wilson-King will be speaking on Endometriosis: A Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency Condition.
